Ancient Nomad
PART 3: Back on the road - South East Asia.

flag   Route Map     Kanchanaburi, Thailand   »  November 01, 2010

After Bangkok I went to Kanchanaburi. This town is famous for the River Kwai and the bridge over it. It's a World War II story, but the bridge is still there. After repairs of course. The bridge is nothing special, not different from any ther similar plain steel bridges, but because of it's history and the movie people come here and stay a day or two. The town and the river itself are quite nice and Kanchanaburi is not expensive, so it's a cool place to chill for a few days.

Photo:  Kanchanaburi, Thailand → This is the busy part of town, around the bus station, and it's not really what the town is about but this is where you arrive.

Kanchanaburi - Thailand

Photo:  Kanchanaburi, Thailand → There are many means of transportation ion Thailand. People are creative, just like in Central or South America. There are converted pick up trucks, and of course the whole idea of a tuk tuk seems to flourish here. There is a whole business developed around fitting and customizing these unique human carriers. But I must say that South America with colorfulness and the things they attach to the converted old school buses beats everything I have seen.

Photo:  Kanchanaburi, Thailand → Bike 'taxi' drivers waiting for clients. If there are two of you - no problem. I record I have seen is five people on a scooter!

I took amny photos of the bridge. It was a nice project, and it's HERE to enjoy.

My life has always been about freedom and I shall continue to walk this path.
Safe travels ! ........... Stan
