PART 3: Back on the road - South East Asia.
Sibu, Malaysia, August 5, 2010 Sibu is a city on the way from Miri to Kuching. There are two ways to get to Kuching - one by bus, directly from Miri, the other one to Sibu wher you stay for a night, and then by boat to Kuching. It's much fastar by boat, and it also breaks up the otherwise 16 hours long journey. I decided to stop in Sibu and take the boat the next day. Sibu is just another town with shops. But there is a nice Chinese Temple here, and a lot of great food. Food... I am feeling hungry ;) Forwarding the story a little to the next day... I woke up confident that I have more time left before the boat leaves. I walked around and snapped a few photos. Then back to the hotel, pick up my bags and rush to the boat terminal. Another surprise - the boats leave at 11:30 not 1:30! Totally my mistake... Fuu....!! So, back to the hotel. Another night in Sibu. Thankfully it was only 25 Ringgit. At the end, it actually worked out for good. I had a chance to walk around at night, taste sgreat local food, take cool photos and even more of it the next morning. This time I showed up at the boat terminal an hour early. The ticket to Kuching cost 45 Ringgit and the journey takes about 4 hours. Tomorrow Kuching - my last stop in Borneo before flying to Kuala Lumpur. Photo: Sibu, Borneo Malaysia. One of the streets. There is KFC at the tall building and that's where I always went to connect to the internet. Photo: Sibu, Borneo Malaysia. Just one of the streets close to my hotel. I stayed at Rejang Hotel. Not very clean, but at 25 Ringgit a good value. Photo: Sibu, Borneo Malaysia. Another view and the Chinese Temple in the background. The furthter West you go in Borneo there will be more Chinese. This time I went for a few sticks of the chicken liver. Mmmmm... Yummy! Photo: Sibu, Borneo Malaysia. It wasn't the end though :) I had to have some of the juicy dumplings too. Look at the cute little bite size hamburgers!! All those delicious cute things you can enjoy in Asia - makes me want to stay here forever ;) Photo: Sibu, Borneo Malaysia. Want to be a pig? Fine! There is a place for it in Asia too! Photo: Sibu, Borneo Malaysia. The trick is to be on the recieving end ;) My life has always been about freedom and I shall continue to walk this path. Safe travels ! ........... Stan Check out my Photography Portfolio |
