The next day, walking around Georgetown, I came across this Chinese temple. Small but pretty impressive from the outside. It's not far from the hotel where I stayed, which is almost right on the Love Lane and the Little India. I go there every day for my fix of roti, to which I am addicted, ha ha And I tell you - I eat with my fingers. It tastes better this way! Oh, and lassi. My favorite drink.
The temple stopped me because of the carvings and their imaginary. I entered it and stayed for a while, and discovered more. The many things there, bottles with oil as offerings, figurines, flowers and weeds, grain, they created a deeper three dimensional world and I just felt happy exploring it. I was sweating and my shirt was soaked and dripping, but I wanted to stay longer. I wanted to capture more.
Finally I left because I felt like an intruder hanging around with a big camera for too long. Snooping around like a spy. I know that actually they probably felt happy seeing me appreciating it - why else would a strange foreigner hang around for an hour looking at the walls an peeking into corners?
I don't know anything about history of this temple more than what's written on a small information plate. Actually, I don't really want to know more. I prefer just to appreaciate what I see and relate to it.
