PART 3: Back on the road - South East Asia.
Route Map Penang, Malaysia » September 11, 2010 Continuing from the previous page... The pagoda. Finally there to climb the stairs. The pagoda is 30 meters high, and there are different altars inside on each level. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. The ground level around the entrance. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. The entrance to the pagoda. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. The statue of Buddah on the main floor of the pagoda. The stairs to climb to the top are behind it. The different level are not equally attractive, plus I already have so many Buddha photos, so I didn't bother to document every level of the pagoda. Instead I just took random photos from the climb and the views from the top. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. I like this photo because it shows the contrast between modern and the temple roofes. I love the colors in this photo. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. Top of another temple. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. Climbing... Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. More roofs of temples. I like the animal motives used un these temples. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. This is the view from near the top. The view from the top shows a wider area, but not as detailed, and I like this one better. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. This statue, a huge one, was being renovated and unfortunately I didn't get to see it up close in person. But having a good zoom on my camera let me come a bit closer. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. Actually, many things in Georgetown were being renovated. Access to the panoramic view of the town at the top of the highest building in the city was closed due to renovations, and the trains to the Penang hill with views of the island were not working either. Oh well, there is always the next time. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. On the way down from the pagoda. There is always a good photos opportunity if you keep your eyes open. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. This is yet another part of the temple, close to the pagoda. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. It's interior is really complex and impressive. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. Photo: Penang, Malaysia. Kek Lok Si Temple. A humming bird. The visit to Kek Lok Si Temple was a great one. I really prefer the temples of Japan, their old feel. Chinese temples are too bright and colorful to my taste. Still, visiting this temple was a delight. One day I will come back to see more, photograph the people. My life has always been about freedom and I shall continue to walk this path. Safe travels ! ........... Stan Check out my Photography Portfolio |
