PART 3: Back on the road - South East Asia.
Route Map Ipoh, Malaysia » September 03, 2010 More on the temples... There are a few more, but less impressive. To make the report complete, here a few photos of them. Plus a few of Ipoh. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. This was a Hindu temple. Looks mmodern, but I managed to take this all right looking photo of it. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. This one is the least attractive. A simple plain building. It's a Chinese temple. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. One thing good about this last temple is this sculpture, which makes for a pretty good picture. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. I also found this falling apart old small temple in the area. It reminded me of Japan, where I had seen many old abandoned temples. I was thinking about exploring it, but the bushes around were too thick. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. Looking the other way, there is a pagoda. It is flooded and one day I am sure it will also fall apart. Ipoh is a good place to visit and stay for a few days. Without the tourists here, it felt like an authentic Malaysian city. Below a few more images from Ipoh - this time the city itself. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. Typical narrow Chinese buildings. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. McDonalds - my WiFi spot not far from the hotel. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. As always, there will be at least one mosque... Photo: ...and a fish market. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. This one even had shark on the menu. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. Another street shot of Ipoh street. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. And another. Photo: Ipoh, Malaysia. This is picture number 50 from Ipoh. I guess I will leave it with this. It's a turtle from the pond at the Sam Poh Tong temple. I wrote about it here. There is one door to the pond, locked, and just about leaving I spotted this red painted shell lying next to it, on the inside. This was the only red marked shell in the whole pond full of turtles, and while all of them were hanging around the pond, this one was lying next to the door as you see it in the photo. 'Just a shell', a talisman or some sort of special item placed there to protect the evil from entering the door. Out of curiosity I reached through the fence and pick it up. It was alive! A real living turtle. Why it was marked red? I forgot to ask at the end. Why it was there along by the door - I am sure it was guarding it. From Evil. The animal world does not fail to amaze me. Is there something out there? I don't know... but one thing for sure is real - it's the mystery that connects it all. My life has always been about freedom and I shall continue to walk this path. Safe travels ! ........... Stan Check out my Photography Portfolio |
