Playas de Tijuana, Mexico - December 16, 2009
Already one night in Mexico. I am staying in Playas de Tijuana - a place outside the city. Jamie and his family, the hosts, are really nice people. His place is right by the ocean. Beautiful sunset. I had home made tortillas for breakfast. They were my first home made tortillas and the best I ever had. North America has it's perks, but I am glad to be out of there. I feel better here.

I have been lucky so far. My first host, Daniel in San Diego, was a great guy interesting to talk to. Jamie is an artist and a traveler, and we both lived in Japan. What else can I say - my first couch surfing experiences are so far great, but I would never discover this if I stayed at home and didn't think 'outside the box'.

Speaking of home. Do I have one ? I don't even have a country, really. It feels good to be free, yet sometimes it can be tiring. At times I feel like I need to have a place to sort my art out, organize. Without this some things seem unfinished, and I can't even relate to them the same way later. Thre are things better let alone, you have to let things go. Other need closure in order to move forward. The feeling of accomplishment is important in art, and life.
The important thing is that I feel the energy and power to push this away and keep moving. Travel energizes me, so perhaps this is a natural order of things for me and the right direction. I also enjoy it, and we should enjoy our lives while doing what we want. It is not an escape, it's a journey.
