PART 2: Back to Vancouver - surviving with a goal in mind.
Vancouver, Canada - February 17, 2010 My mornings always start with 60 push-ups, 30 sit-ups, a bit of exercise for my stomach and my back and a little stretching. I used to do 10 to 20 chin-ups when I was on the road, but I don't always have the opportunity to do it now. After a shower I go downstairs to the ground floor to check my emails and eat breakfast. There is not much choice offered here. I usually ask for over-easy eggs with ham or bacon or two egg omelette with cheese. I also have a glass of orange juice or coffee. Recently I always go for the juice - I have free coffee and cookies at work. Photo: Vancouver. My usual breakfast: 2 over-easy eggs, a slice of ham, toast, hash browns and orange juice. Vancouver, Canada - February 16, 2010 Today is my day off. The weather is great and lots of sunshine - a perfect day for a stroll and sushi ! Vancouver is definitely a place to eat great fresh sushi at affordable prices. I will miss this easy access to sushi here after I leave. The other thing is the T&T supermarket chain - awesome ! Wall to wall Asian food from China, Korea and Japan. I could live there ! And since I can't... I will just go to China, Korea and Japan ! hahaha Today on my menu was tuna and salmon sashimi, negitoro cone (fatty tuna with green onions wrapped in nori - pressed seaweed sheet, really healthy), tamago (egg) nigiri and two salmon nigiri. Nigiri is the name for slice of fish or anything else on rice. I ate everything with wasabi of course ( Japanese radish ). There is no sushi or sashimi without it for a real sushi connoisseur - like me ! Oh, and of course you have to eat it with soy sauce. In Japan, sushi is always served with wasabi already included. Many people in the Western countries don't like it so here they serve it separate on the plate. If you go to Japan and want your sushi without wasabi, just ask 'wasabi nuki, onegaishimasu', which means 'no wasabi, please'. Wasabi is the green stuff on the plate, very hot, and the pink is pickled ginger - you eat a slice of it to break the flavor of the previous bite. Back to my lunch - the cone was $3 and the rest $1 a piece. It can't get any cheaper ! If you are in Vancouver - drop me a line and I will show you great sushi places here !! Photo: Vancouver. This is my today Omega 3 fix on rice :) My life has always been about freedom and I shall continue to walk this path. Safe travels ! ........... Stan Check out my Photography Portfolio |
