PART 3: Back on the road - South East Asia.
Route Map Koh Tao, Thailand » October 08, 2010 Finally the prime destination. It's not that far from where I am staying, and I can actually see these islands. Yes - islands because there are three small islands connected with a strip of white sand beach. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. I know, it does not look real, but it is. The water is crystal clear, the sand almost white. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. Tell me, why would you want to leave a place like this? Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. This place has a well known for the corals dive spot called the Japanese garden, and it is underneath of the blue which you are looking at right now. I planned diving on the island, but i first wanted to snorkel. I am sure that there is great diving around the island, and I will get back one day to explore it, but at the time I didn't dive. I must say I wasn't that impressed with what I saw snorkeling. Central and South AMerica was much better. That was my experience anyway. I didn't see here any magnificent corals, like I saw in Bali. And imagine - I didn't even go into water here! I just didn't feel like. Next time. There is always the next time, another excuse to come back. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. Diving boats. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. There is a path leading to a look out point at the top of the hill. It's only a 20 minutes walk, but it gets very hot and humid. No problem - the view you will be rewarded with is a true likeness of a tropical paradise. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. The boat which brought me here is parked at the end of the pier. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. A bunch of lucky people. Oh, is it me? Nope... Now I regret not swimming and snorkeling here. What if there is no 'next time'? Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. I went around the island but I wouldn't reccommended it. It is not safe as this wooden planks are in places rotten, missing and unstable. You also can't all the way around - about 80% through to the other side it comes to a dead end. I had to backtrack all the way to where I started. Photo: Koh Tao, Thailand. The views are quite nice on the other hand. These rock formations are cool, the water is very clean, and other are absolutely no people. It's great to be by yourself in this environment. It's 13:30 and time to head back to the beach. The boat leaves at 14:30, so I will still have a few minutes to sit, relax, and think what to do tomorrow. My life has always been about freedom and I shall continue to walk this path. Safe travels ! ........... Stan Check out my Photography Portfolio |
