PART 3: Back on the road - South East Asia.
![]() ![]() After the stupa and the monkeys, I went to the river. I like the place, spending my time by the Mekong, watching people and eventually the sun go down. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The boardwalk by the river. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → There were river tour boats parked there. This is the first time I went in this direction, I have never seen them before. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → Dwellings on the other side of the Mekong River. The water level can rised quite dramatically, that's why many houses are built high above the ground. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → There are people who live on and from the Mekong. They usually make their living fishing. Some have their homes, some don't - living out of their boats. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The Mekong boat people. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → On smaller boats they use smaller motors, while bigger boats are equipped with 4 cylinder car engines. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The Mekong River. People carrying their goods for sale to local markets. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The Mekong River. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → More movement on the Mekong River, as they approach the shore to unload their goods. I think they also pick up things to take them to villages down the river, perhaps for sale, perhaps just for themselves. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → Mekong River. There they go. Many items must be cheaper in the larger city, like Phnom Penh, and the few hours trip is worth it. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The Mekong River. Good luck people on your journey! ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The Mekong River. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The Mekong River. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The Mekong River can be quite wide, and some ships on it quite big. I'd love to see it when the water levels are high. ![]() Photo: Phnom Penh, Cambodia → The last photo of the boat people in Phnom Penh. The last photo of the boat people in Phnom Penh. |
