PART 5: Winter break
![]() ![]() It's been two weeks. The power is back on, the internet working, and finally some heat in the house. Today we went for a drive to the shore to see how the waves affected the beach. Quiet a sight. I don't know how the area looked before Sandy, but I can see a lot of displaced sand and some damage. ![]() Photo: Sandy aftermath, USA → Aparently the boarwalk was at least 6 feet above the sand, and there were sand dunes on the beach, so you couldn't see the ocean. Right not all looks flat. ![]() Photo: Sandy aftermath, USA → Again, I haven't seen this place before the hurricane, but by the way the metal posts are bent, I can imagine there was quite a force of the sand mixed with water surge. ![]() Photo: Sandy aftermath, USA → Definitely flat, no sand dunes. ![]() Photo: Sandy aftermath, USA → These metal rods were inside the dunes to reinforce them and keep the sand in place. It's all washed out. ![]() Photo: Sandy aftermath, USA → Sidewalk. ![]() Photo: Sandy aftermath, USA → Danage on the shore. Thew whole structure moved. Nothing in comparison to some other areas, where whole hoses got washed away and whole blocks in the ara are simply empty lots. ![]() Photo: Sandy aftermath, USA → Just an old sign to walk this way, but truly, there is no other way to walk at this moment.
