PART 5: Winter break
![]() ![]() Another day in Masaya and more culinary adventures. This is what I've been waiting for, and trying local food when traveling is one of the top three things on my to do list. ![]() Photo: Masaya, Nicaragua → Fresh watermelon juice and fishe ceviche. A healthy breakfast. ![]() Photo: Masaya, Nicaragua → Sitting and relaxing at the Parque Central, I spotted a bunch of people looking up the tree and taking photos. I have seen a couple of nicely colored birds here before, but I think they are quite common to Nicaragua. So I ignored them. Then more and more people gathered, all of them serious about what they see up there in the tree! I coudn't ignore it, and there is was - a sloth! That's fantastic! Here you sit in a park, in the city, and instead of sparrow and pigeons, you have a sloth crawling up the tree! I love tropics! ![]() Photo: Masaya, Nicaragua → To finish the day with a bang, I went for langosta. Not huge, but each tail was a mouthful. They were fried, and in my opinion steamed or boiled lobster tastes much better. Beeing deep fried takes away the subtle sweetness and a bit chewy texture of lobster meat, and in my opinion that's what it's all about. Neverthless, it was not bad. And of course - fresh. 200 Cordobar for the plate, which can't be bought in Canada for $8.50. Of course, that's no tax and no tip here. More - Continued here. |
